This new film series brings art house film flavor to your Tuesdays. Plus, meet new friends, hear from special guests who are film experts, enjoy light refreshments, and have a discussion after the film.
June 7: This Beautiful Fantastic (2016), 2:00-3:40 p.m.
A quirky young woman (Jessica Brown Findlay) with a fear of plants finds her lonely life enriched when she receives help restoring her garden from the grumpy man (Tom Wilkinson) who lives next door. This British “contemporary fairy tale,” directed by Simon Aboud, is an old-fashioned, feel-good movie. PG 1hr 32m
June 14: The Eagle Huntress (2016), 2:00-3:30 p.m.
Aisholpan, a 13-year-old girl in Mongolia, earns her place as the first female eagle hunter in twelve generations of her nomadic Kazakh family. The soaring aerial photography in this documentary follows her from capturing and training her own bird to competing against 70 older competitors at the annual Golden Eagle Festival. G 1hr 27m
June 21: Fisherman’s Friends (2019), 2:00-4:00 p.m.
A music executive from London discovers a group of singing fishermen in Cornwall and wants to record them, but they are hesitant to give up their traditional lives for questionable fame and fortune. James Purefoy stars in this fun, tune-filled comedy based on a real-life story. PG-13 1hr 53m
