Daughters of the American Revolution: An English Medieval Cathedral

Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth is a beloved novel and historical masterpiece. The book explores characters from 12th-century England whose lives center around a monastic cathedral. This program will focus on the cathedral itself, exploring its architecture and how the Gothic style emerged from the great Norman cathedrals. The goal of this presentation is to give you a better understanding of the fundamentals of cathedral buildings and how those elements are important to the novel’s story.
