A would-be novelist and a would-be celebrity combine forces to turn themselves into social media influencers. Thirty-five years later, after an unnamed upheaval, media influencers live in a government-controlled sponsor-financed village in California, until one decides she doesn’t care about how many followers she has and tries to leave.
