Three young women implore their mother to tell the story of her brush with fame. Now married to the owner of a cherry orchard in Michigan, Lara was once cast in a Hollywood film, then a stage role at a prestigious summer stock playhouse. There, she met and fell in love with Peter Duke, now an Oscar-winning actor, before his rise to stardom. Lara remembers and selectively tells her daughters of the summer that both changed and made her life.
