The Throwback Thursday Film Series screens a variety of classic and contemporary movies for an adult audience. All films are shown in the Williamsburg Library Theatre.

June 1, 2:00-3:45 pm: Funny Face (1957)
Stanley Donen directed this top-notch musical about a fashion photographer (Fred Astaire) trying to turn a bookstore clerk (Audrey Hepburn) into a top model. George Gershwin provided the music, Givenchy and Edith Head designed the gorgeous couture, and the city of Paris provides the romantic backdrop. NR 1 hr 43 min
June 8, 2:00-4:00 pm: Jane Eyre (2011)
In this fine version of Charlotte Brontë’s classic, an orphan’s (Mia Wasikowska) love for her employer (Michael Fassbinder) is threatened by a dark secret from his past. Jamie Bell costars under the direction of Cary Joji Fukunaga. PG-13 2 hr
June 15, 2:00-4:05 pm: How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998)
A successful career woman and single mother goes on a vacation to Jamaica, where she falls in love with a much younger man, leading her to reassess her life. Angela Bassett, Taye Diggs, and Whoopi Goldberg star in this heartwarming comedy based on the novel by Terry McMillan. R 2 hr 4 min
June 22, 2:00-3:50 pm: Romancing the Stone (1984)
When her sister is kidnapped, a reclusive romance writer (Kathleen Turner) becomes embroiled in a wild treasure hunting adventure in the jungles of Colombia. Robert Zemeckis directed this great action comedy that costars Michael Douglas and Danny DeVito. PG 1 hr 46 min
June 29, 2:00-3:55 pm: Bhowani Junction (1956)
Ava Gardner plays an Anglo-Indian woman whose love and loyalties are torn between three very different men during the period when Great Britain is withdrawing from India. This romantic melodrama was directed by George Cukor and costars Stewart Granger and Bill Travers. NR 1 hr 50 min
