The Throwback Thursday Film Series screens a variety of classic and contemporary movies for an adult audience. All films are shown in the Williamsburg Library Theatre.

August 3, 2:00-4:15 pm: The King and I (1956)
Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote the fabulous score to this classic musical about an English governess (Deborah Kerr) who clashes with the King of Siam (Yul Brynner) over the education of his many children. G 2 hr, 13 min
August 10, 2:00-4:05 pm: Cabaret (1972)
In Weimar Republic Berlin, a British student (Michael York) falls in with a cabaret singer (Liza Minnelli) and her decadent circle of friends. Bob Fosse directed this adult-themed musical that won eight Academy awards including Best Actress, Supporting Actor (Joel Grey), and Director. PG 2 hr 4 min
August 17, 2:00-4:00 pm: Gigi (1958)
A Parisian playboy (Louis Jourdan) befriends the granddaughter (Leslie Caron) of his uncle’s former mistress, but finds his feelings changing as she matures into a lovely young lady. This superb Lerner and Loewe musical was directed by Vincente Minnelli and won nine Academy Awards including Best Picture. G 1 hr 55 min
August 24, 2:00-5:00 pm: The Sound of Music (1965)
Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer star in this beloved musical based on the real-life story of the Von Trapp family singers. Robert Wise directed; Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote the music with Eleanor Parker and the scenic delights of Austria costarring. G 2 hr 52 min
August 31, 2:00-4:35 pm: Funny Girl (1968)
Barbra Streisand won an Oscar for her great performance as comedienne Fanny Brice in this popular film directed by William Wyler. Omar Sharif and Kay Medford co-star with the score written by Jule Styne and Walter Scharf. G 2 hr 31 min
